RAF Extra-Ordinary General Assembly 2026, Rwanda Aquatics Federation Strengthens Leadership and Elects Statutory Committees

The Rwanda Aquatics Federation (RAF) is pleased to inform its members, partners, swimming enthusiasts, and the general public that on May 30, 2026, elections were successfully held to complete the Federation’s Executive Committee and elect its affiliated statutory committees. These elections mark an important step in strengthening good governance and advancing the development of aquatic sports in Rwanda.

The elections took place during the Extraordinary General Assembly of the Rwanda Aquatics Federation, held at the Federation’s headquarters in Kigali. The Assembly brought together voting members of RAF, who participated in a transparent and democratic electoral process aimed at filling vacant positions within the Executive Committee and establishing key governance committees.

During the elections, Ms. Rujeni Nadine was elected as the Second Vice President of RAF, while Mr. James Bazatsinda was elected as the Secretary General.

Members also elected the Audit Committee, composed of:

  • Patrick Dusabimana
  • GodWill Shalom Tuyubahe

In addition, the Conflict Resolution Committee was elected and composed of:

  • Aimable Kayitakire
  • Guillaume Kanyabashi
  • Norbert Twagirayezu

In her remarks, RAF President Cynthia Munyana expressed her appreciation to all members who attended the Extraordinary General Assembly, the candidates who participated in the elections, and the Electoral Commission for conducting the process with transparency, fairness, and professionalism.

She emphasized that the completion of the Executive Committee and the election of the other committees represent a significant milestone in strengthening the Federation’s governance framework. She further noted that these structures will play a key role in helping RAF achieve its mission of developing aquatic sports and increasing participation at both national and international levels.

RAF members expressed confidence that the newly elected leaders and committees will make a valuable contribution to building a stronger Federation founded on good governance, transparency, accountability, and professionalism, while continuing to promote and develop swimming and aquatic sports throughout Rwanda.
